5 things to consider when choosing a private function venue

Your event is in its imperative planning stages, can you envision what it will look like in the end?

In your planning, do you know what sort of private function venue in Perth will work best to bring your vision to life? While deciding, we have curated a list of considerations when choosing the right private function venue for you.

#1 Location

If your event is going to be local in nature, you may be looking for a venue within a reasonable distance from most attendees’ homes or places of work. If many attendees will be travelling from out of town, a venue near the airport or near decent accommodation is a must. Furthermore, what sort of scenery do you want or is that not imperative to your event? A venue near the Perth city skyline or by the beach will impact costs, and also the attendee experience.

Top tip: If you want to minimise the chances of your attendees being late, provide them with a mobile event app that outlines maps, driving directions and parking/shuttle information.

#2 Parking

Does the venue have its own parking or will attendees need to get a taxi into your event? A venue with either on-site parking or parking nearby is ideal, and will save your guests with the hassle of transport.

#3 Capacity restrictions

How many people do you want to attend your event? You’ll need to know the room capacity of the venues for a few reasons. In a COVID-19 world, ensuring people can socially distance, and comfortably feel roomy in a space is imperative. Also, there are fire and safety codes that the venue has to abide by. At Coast, you can view our various areas here, and explore the capacity limits as part of your planning.

Also, most venues offer food and/or beverages with a set minimum food and beverage spending amount. Be sure to consider this when you start mapping out your budget or you could get an unwelcome surprise down the road.

#4 Layout

Now is a great time to get a rough idea of what types of activities you’ll be including at your event. This will then dictate the amenities you’ll require. While narrowing down your selection, get an illustrated floor plan of each venue, and make note of important things such as where the outlets are and where the AV equipment is.

#5 Acoustics

Who else has attended an event in Perth that was so loud, you were unable to hear others? The noise caused you to strain your hearing and lose your voice? This happened because the venue had poor acoustics. Although acoustics won’t necessarily make or break your choice in a private function venue in Perth, it is important to consider if your event has the potential to get louder as the night progresses. Speak to us about the acoustics of all the areas of our venue, and we can offer our honest advice on this.
